THREE NEW COLLABORATIONS

We are delighted to welcome Els Bet, Athena Gronti and Leo van de Burg to the Justice by Design collective. Together they join a group of skilful and justice-minded group of people motivated to rethink how we engage as designers in our professional and academic environments.

Els Bet, is an urban design teacher and professional, who centres drawing and mapping as a way to unravel the soul of the cities, spatially and systemically in a critical way. Els joins us to share her passion for drawing, but as a means to make visible the unseen for justice. You can find more details about her teaching and skills here, and professional practice here.

Athena Gronti, is a textile designer fascinated by womanhood and the concept of domesticity. The feminine experience throughout history and how it’s interwoven with that of textiles plays a key role in her practice, which is often strongly influenced by her Greek / Balkan background. She works with us by exploring role of tapestry and patchwork as a means to tell stories of marginal or othered perspectives in public space. You can find out about Athena’s work and experience here.

Leo van de Burg, is an architect by training, an urbanist by practice, and a teacher by vocation. Leo has produced and edited exhibitions plus catalogues on urban design practice in the Netherlands and cultural history and urban design. He brings his extensive experience in teaching and engaging with design students in exploring experimental and role-based methodologies to Justice by Design. You can find more about Leo here.
